Scripture
Psalm 51:1-6

1 Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight,
so that you are proved right when you speak
and justified when you judge.
5 Surely I was sinful at birth,
sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
6 Surely you desire truth in the inner parts [a] ;
you teach [b] me wisdom in the inmost place.

Reflection
We should confess our sins before the Lord in prayer. It is important to not only to confess our sins, but we should also repent- fight against them and run from them. Live by the Spirit so we don’t indulge in the desires of our flesh. When one is convicted of their sin and confesses it to the Lord it is important to realize the grace we have in Christ Jesus. We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) We deserved hell as the punishment of our sin. But while we were still sinners Christ died for us taken on all the sin and penalty we deserved so we could be made right with God! It is only through Jesus Christ that we can be made righteous before the Lord and enter into a personal relationship with him. We can now have eternal life by turning from our sin in commitment and trust to Jesus Christ our Lord. We need to give the Lord control of our lives. When one has a relationship with the Lord their sins are blotted out and thrown as far as the east is to the west. I pray that you share in his resurrection and find power and hope in it!
"I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead." Philippians 3:10
